As Florida reels, focus turns to restoring power, assisting victims in Hurricane Milton’s wake

As the floodwaters caused by Hurricane Milton begin to recede in Tampa, Florida, the state is focusing on restoring power, clearing debris, and distributing fuel to the more than 1.5 million residents without power. Governor Ron DeSantis is working to provide resources to hard-hit areas and address the need for fuel distribution in heavily impacted regions. While major highways and airports have reopened, the risk of flooding remains high as river levels continue to rise. The Tampa Bay area was spared from the worst storm surge, but strong winds and heavy rain led to severe flooding and damage. Emergency response workers are on the ground, and officials are warning residents to evacuate low-lying areas as water levels are expected to continue rising.
