The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in Oman has reported the creation of 1,728 jobs in the communications and information technology sector from January to September of this year. The majority of these jobs went to Omani nationals, with 80% being filled by locals and the remaining 20% by expatriates. Efforts to increase Omanization in the sector have been successful, with the percentage of Omani workers increasing from 49.71% in 2023 to 62.02% in 2024. The Ministry is also working on building capacities in the field through the National Initiative for Digital capabilities Development (Makeen), which has already helped employ approximately 226 Omanis since its launch in September 2022.
