World champion Russian figure skaters aboard flight involved in midair collision, Kremlin says

Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, a Russian figure skating pair, tragically died in a plane crash near Reagan International Airport. They were highly successful in their career, winning medals in multiple world championships and competing in several Olympic Games. Despite initially rebuffing the idea of working together, they started their partnership in 1987 and went on to win bronze and silver medals in European Championships. They also achieved success on the world stage, earning bronze, gold, and silver medals in various competitions. Shishkova and Naumov were married and had a son who also competed in figure skating. The pair were coaches at the Skating Club of Boston. The figure skating world mourns the loss of these talented athletes.
