What we know after plane collides with helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport



A commercial plane and a military helicopter collided midair near Reagan Washington National Airport, with 64 people on the plane and three in the helicopter. The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. ET, and the number of casualties is unclear as a search-and-rescue operation is ongoing. President Trump has been briefed on the crash and the airport is closed until at least 11 a.m. Thursday. The plane was an American Eagle jet and the helicopter was an Army Black Hawk. Search-and-rescue teams are at the Potomac River, with some bodies recovered. Officials have not yet confirmed the number of casualties.
