What we know about the midair collision between a passenger jet and Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River



A passenger jet and a Black Hawk helicopter collided midair and crashed into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport. The plane was carrying 60 passengers and crew, while the helicopter had three soldiers on board. At least 19 bodies have been recovered, with no survivors found yet. Emergency response units are conducting search and rescue operations. Politicians, including President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, have reacted to the crash. This is the first major U.S. commercial crash in almost 16 years, with the last major American Airlines crash occurring in 2001.
