In October, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian home-cooked meals became more expensive due to a rise in vegetable prices. The cost of a vegetarian thali increased by 20% compared to the previous year, primarily due to a surge in vegetable prices. Onion and potato prices were up significantly, while tomato prices more than doubled. However, tomato prices are expected to stabilize in November. Prices of pulses also increased due to lower stock and festive demand. Despite this, a decrease in fuel costs helped to limit the overall increase in meal costs. Non-vegetarian thali costs also rose, influenced by vegetable prices.
