Two Ohio officers charged with reckless homicide in death of Black man who pleaded, ‘I can’t breathe’

Two Ohio police officers have been charged with reckless homicide in the death of Frank E. Tyson, a Black man who pleaded “I can’t breathe” during a police encounter. The officers, Camden Burch and Beau Schoenegge, were booked into jail and remain in custody. The charges were approved by a grand jury following an investigation into Tyson’s death. Body camera footage showed Tyson pleading for help and stating he couldn’t breathe as officers restrained him. The death has drawn comparisons to the murders of George Floyd and Eric Garner. Family members and their attorney expressed gratitude for the charges, calling it a step towards justice.
