The lore behind the Red Sox’s 2004 World Series win

As a kid growing up in Boston, the Red Sox meant everything to me. I have vivid memories of the 1975 World Series and the heartbreak that followed in subsequent years. Recently, I was involved in the production of a documentary about the 2004 Red Sox team that broke the curse. Reflecting on the 2003 ALCS Game 7, I recall the intense emotions and incredible moments that unfolded. From Willie Randolph’s pre-game confidence to Jason Giambi’s unexpected heroics and Mike Mussina’s crucial role, the game was filled with drama. Despite the devastating loss, the Red Sox showed resilience and determination, paving the way for their eventual redemption in 2004. This game marked the end of an era of fear and doubt, signaling a new chapter of confidence and success for the Red Sox.
