Teen tobacco use falls to 25-year low as fewer pick up e-cigarettes

The use of tobacco products among middle and high school students in the US has dropped to a 25-year low, according to data from the CDC and FDA. The decline is attributed to a decrease in the use of electronic cigarettes, with female students and Hispanic students reporting the biggest drops in use. E-cigarettes are still the most commonly used tobacco product among students, followed by nicotine pouches and cigarettes. While nicotine pouch use has grown slightly, overall tobacco product use is on the decline. Zyn is the most popular nicotine pouch brand, with Philip Morris International planning to invest $600 million in a new production facility due to high demand. Vigilance and public health efforts are still needed to ensure all youth can live tobacco-free lives.
