Spirit AeroSystems weighs hundreds more furloughs or layoffs if Boeing strike goes beyond Nov. 25

Spirit AeroSystems is facing the possibility of furloughs or layoffs for hundreds of employees if the Boeing machinists’ strike continues past Nov. 25. The strike, now in its sixth week, has halted production of Boeing’s aircraft, impacting suppliers like Spirit. The company had already planned to furlough 700 workers in Wichita, Kansas, and is now considering further reductions. This highlights the strain on the aerospace supply chain caused by the strike. Boeing’s acquisition of Spirit is expected to close next year, and resolving the strike is a top priority for Boeing’s new CEO. The workers’ union is eager to return to negotiations.
