Son of founder of modern Singapore says he is now a political refugee

Lee Hsien Yang, the youngest son of Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew, has announced that he is now a political refugee under the U.N. Refugee Convention, seeking asylum in Britain. This decision comes after a long-standing feud with his brother, former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, over their father’s home. Lee Hsien Yang cited government persecution against him and his family as the reason for seeking asylum. The Singapore government denies these claims, calling them baseless. Lee Hsien Yang remains hopeful that one day it will be safe for him to return to Singapore.
