Shakira fixed deal with Spanish government to ‘protect’ her kids

Shakira recently settled a $15 million tax case with the Spanish government, explaining in a letter published in el Mundo that she did it to protect her children and ensure she could move on with her life. She felt the government was more interested in publicly shaming her than listening to her reasons. Shakira also mentioned that she initially moved to Spain in 2011 to be with her partner Gerard Piqué, who was working there at the time. She emphasized that her decisions were made out of love for her family, not out of cowardice or guilt.
