Sen. Marco Rubio says

Senator Marco Rubio is critical of the attention given to baseless claims of Haitian immigrants eating pets in Ohio, arguing that the real-world impacts of immigration on small communities should be the focus. Former President Donald Trump made the debunked claim about immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, but local officials and a CBS poll have found no credible evidence to support it. The Haitian immigrants in Springfield have helped fill jobs and are mostly authorized to work legally in the U.S. Governor DeWine has announced state support for Springfield in dealing with the large number of migrants, including providing healthcare services. Rubio defended residents who are upset by the effects of an increase in migrants in their towns, saying they have a right to voice their concerns. There have been bomb threats in Springfield since the false claims about Haitian migrants surfaced, but Rubio says a foreign nexus may not be involved.
