San Jose State volleyball team with transgender player says no more future matches have been forfeited

The San Jose State women’s volleyball team has had four matches canceled this season due to controversy over a transgender player. However, upcoming opponents have not informed the team of any more forfeits. The team lost to San Diego State but will continue with its regular schedule. The team has 13 games left, including rematches and matches against teams that previously forfeited. The season finale against Boise State is in Idaho, where a law prevents biological males from competing in women’s sports. The team’s coach criticized government involvement in sports decisions. The controversy arose after junior Brooke Slusser filed a lawsuit against the NCAA over transgender policies, citing safety concerns. Police protection has been assigned to increase team security.
