Pope Francis, in Singapore, urges fair wages for migrant workers



Pope Francis wrapped up his 12-day tour of Southeast Asia and Oceania with a visit to Singapore, where he urged political leaders to ensure fair wages for the country’s lower-paid foreign workers. He expressed concern for Singapore’s aging population and the migrant workforce, particularly those in construction and domestic services. The pope praised Singapore’s efforts in addressing climate change and emphasized the importance of sustainable development. He also celebrated a Mass that drew around 50,000 people at the national sports stadium. Overall, his visit highlighted the importance of caring for the poor, elderly, and migrant workers, as well as promoting harmony among different ethnicities, cultures, and religions.
