The search and rescue operation after a plane crash in the Potomac River is a challenging task, according to the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Chief John Donnelly. The conditions are tough with cold, windy weather and murky, eight-feet deep water with ice pieces. The responders are working in dangerous and difficult circumstances, searching every inch of space in the dark. Reagan National Airport will remain closed until at least 11 a.m. Thursday, with flight operations expected to resume then, although the timing is subject to change.
