Kennedy and Jacqueline Lee Bouvier were married in a grand ceremony in Rhode Island. The couple went on to become the 35th president and one of the most popular first ladies ever. Tragically, President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. Jackie Kennedy ensured his grave site at Arlington National Cemetery was accessible to the public. She was laid to rest next to him in 1994.
