Police in Dayton, Ohio, have debunked claims circulating online that immigrants are eating pets, calling the allegations “irresponsible.” The new allegations emerged after a video and article alleged African immigrants in Dayton were preparing to grill dead cats. Dayton Police Chief Kamran Afzal stated that there is no evidence to support these claims and emphasized support for the immigrant community. The new claim followed previous baseless allegations in nearby Springfield. Conservative writer Christopher Rufo published the new claim, but many have expressed skepticism, with some suggesting the carcasses on the grill look more like chickens. Dayton Mayor Jeffrey J. Mims, Jr. also denounced the claim as false and aimed at stirring fear and division.
