Manchester United has fired coach Erik ten Hag after two-and-a-half years in charge. Although he won the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the F.A. Cup in 2024, the team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League and poor performance in the Premier League led to his dismissal. The decision came less than 24 hours after a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United, which highlighted the team’s struggles. Assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy will temporarily take over as head coach while the club searches for a permanent replacement. Manchester United thanked ten Hag for his contributions and wished him well in the future.
