Israeli military says ‘limited’ operation against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon has begun

Rescuers are searching through the rubble of a building hit by an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military has launched a “limited, localized” operation against Hezbollah targets in the area, citing an immediate threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel. The operation involves targeted ground raids and artillery attacks, with the possibility of more forces being sent across the border. The U.S. was informed about the raids, which are focused on Hezbollah infrastructure near the border. There have been no direct clashes between Israeli troops and Hezbollah militants, but a ground operation in Lebanon is considered imminent by some officials. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has led to daily exchanges of fire, causing displacement in both countries. Israel plans to continue striking Hezbollah until it is safe for families to return home, while Hezbollah vows to keep firing rockets until a cease-fire is reached in Gaza.
