IMF Executive Board’s schedule up to September 4 ‘excludes Pakistan’



The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released its executive board meeting schedule through September 2024, and Pakistan is not included on the agenda for approval of a $7 billion bailout package. Despite this, the government remains optimistic that the loan will be approved next month. Pakistan is actively working to secure financing from China, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE to meet its external financing needs. The absence of Pakistan’s loan approval on the IMF’s agenda is concerning, but Finance Minister Aurangzeb is hopeful that the board will approve it in September. The approval of the loan is crucial for Pakistan’s economy.
