Hate crime, terrorism charges filed after Jewish man shot in ‘targeted’ attack

A Jewish man was shot while walking to synagogue in Chicago in what police now say was a targeted attack. The suspect, Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, is facing hate crime and terrorism charges in addition to previous charges. The victim, who was wearing a kippah, did not suffer life-threatening injuries. The motive behind the attack is still unclear as Abdallahi remains hospitalized and detectives have been unable to interview him. Leaders and officials have condemned the attack, emphasizing that violence rooted in hate and bigotry will not be tolerated. The community is coming together in support of the victim and to denounce such acts of violence.
