The Ministry of Manpower has now allowed these eateries to hire cooks from India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka on work permits. This move has been welcomed by restaurant owners who struggle to find skilled chefs. Many restaurants have already taken advantage of this opportunity, with some seeing an increase in catering orders. While the increase in foreign workers has been helpful, some restaurant owners hope for a higher quota to meet the growing demand. Additionally, they hope to retain Employment Pass holders when their permits are up for renewal.
