Georgia Supreme Court won’t step in to reinstate controversial election rules



Georgia’s Supreme Court rejected a Republican-led effort to implement new election rules before Election Day. The rules, including one for hand-counting ballots, were declared illegal by a lower level judge. These rules were supported by Trump-endorsed members of the State Election Board. State Republican officials also opposed the rules, citing concerns about delays and lack of training for election workers. The Georgia Supreme Court declined to reinstate the rules but did not outright reject the appeal, saying it will proceed in the ordinary course.
