Fuel price adjustments to bring relief in Sept power bills

The Power Division announced a relief of over Rs2 per unit in electricity bills for September due to fuel price adjustments. This will result in a decrease of Rs2.93 per unit for consumers. Agricultural and domestic consumers using up to 300 units will see a relief of Rs2.19 per unit, while other consumers will receive Rs2.65 per unit. The government is renegotiating contracts with independent power producers to lower electricity tariffs, which are among the highest in the region. The government has also announced a Rs50 billion package for electricity consumers to address power issues and prevent further inflation.
