Florida devastated by flooding, fierce winds and tornadoes from deadly Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton caused widespread devastation across Florida, leading to tornadoes, power outages for millions, and the deaths of at least 10 people. The storm made landfall as a Category 3 in Siesta Key and caused significant damage, with homes submerged in floodwaters, roads destroyed, and debris scattered. While the storm surge was not as severe as feared, Governor Ron DeSantis noted that it was still a significant event. President Joe Biden deployed federal personnel to assist with recovery efforts, and thousands of flights were canceled or delayed due to the storm. Milton is expected to weaken as it moves away from the U.S. coast, following closely behind Hurricane Helene, which recently devastated the region.
