Federal agents boarded the Maersk Saltoro, a vessel managed by the same company responsible for the cargo ship that caused the deadly Baltimore bridge collapse. The FBI, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Coast Guard Investigative Services conducted authorized law enforcement activities on the ship. The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit alleging that the owners and operators of the ship, Grace Ocean Private Ltd. and Synergy Marine, were reckless in their maintenance and operation of the vessel. The lawsuit seeks to recover over $100 million spent on clearing debris and reopening the port. The companies have denied these allegations and are seeking to limit their liability. The investigation into the bridge collapse is ongoing.
