Bondi sworn in as attorney general with mission to end ‘weaponization’ of Justice Department

On Wednesday, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi was sworn in to lead the Justice Department amidst a firestorm of reassignments, lawsuits, and resignations from senior law enforcement officials. President Trump praised her as fair and impartial, while Bondi vowed to lead a politically neutral Justice Department. Two groups of FBI agents filed lawsuits to protect their identities in Jan. 6 investigations, raising concerns about political interference. Despite challenges, Bondi’s nomination has bipartisan support and she is expected to restore impartiality to the department. The FBI reassured employees that following orders ethically will not lead to termination. Concerns remain about potential chilling effects on FBI work.
