At least 40 killed in Israeli strike on Gaza humanitarian zone, Palestinians say

The strike in Mawasi, designated a humanitarian zone for Gaza residents, was one of the deadliest yet. The area, now filled with displaced Palestinians, saw mostly children and women killed in the Israeli attack. Hamas denied Israeli claims of presence in the area. The civil defense reported recovering many dead and wounded, including amputation cases, and searching for missing persons. Nasser Hospital received around two dozen bodies. The IDF disputed the death toll and stated it had taken steps to avoid civilian harm, but did not mention issuing warnings before the strike. It did not respond to requests for further comment.
