As floodwaters engulfed a Tennessee hospital, panic set in for those stranded

Angel Mitchell and her family were at a hospital in eastern Tennessee when they had to evacuate due to catastrophic flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. They, along with other patients, staff, and visitors, were caught in a dangerous situation as floodwaters rose. Rescue boats and helicopters were needed to transfer them to safety, with Mitchell’s mother among those needing evacuation. Despite the harrowing experience, everyone from the hospital was safely rescued. However, Mitchell’s mother received a devastating diagnosis of colon cancer shortly after the ordeal.
