Cylib, a startup supported by Porsche and Bosch, is constructing a large electric vehicle battery recycling plant in Dormagen, Germany. The facility, expected to be the largest in Europe, will recycle 30,000 metric tons of end-of-life batteries annually. The recycled batteries will be used by Porsche and other clients in the electric vehicle industry. This initiative aligns with the EU’s focus on sustainable battery development for the transition to electric vehicles. Cylib’s innovative water-based recovery techniques will repurpose materials from used batteries. The plant is set to begin operations in 2026, with plans for additional facilities in Germany and Europe in the future.
