Navratri is a festival where Hindus fast for nine nights, but some traditional foods like sabudana khichdi may not be as healthy as they seem. Nutritionist Sakshi Lalwani suggests avoiding certain foods during Navratri fasting. Sabudana khichdi is high in simple carbohydrates, leading to energy crashes. Amaranth pancakes are a better alternative as they provide sustained energy. Coconut water is high in sugar, so opt for grated coconut or coconut flesh for healthy fats and fibre. Eating just fruit for breakfast can lead to blood sugar spikes, so pair them with protein and fats like homemade granola bars. Remember to choose balanced foods for overall well-being during fasting.
