The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully rolled out the rover of Chandrayaan-3 to the lunar surface, as captured by the Lander Imager Camera. To celebrate this achievement, a 10-metre high replica of the moon will be installed in Guwahati for the India International Science Festival. The festival will focus on showcasing India’s advancements in science and technology, with discussions on various topics including nuclear energy, science literature, and development goals for 2047. The decision to host the festival in Guwahati aims to promote inclusive development in regions that have been historically under-represented, highlighting the potential in the Northeast. The theme of the festival, ‘Transforming India into an S&T driven Global Manufacturing Hub,’ reflects the government’s vision to merge science and technology with industrial growth for self-reliance and global leadership in manufacturing. Union Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh emphasized the importance of science in shaping India’s future economy, environment, and employment opportunities.
