Wayne Graham, who turned Rice into perennial power, dies at 88



Wayne Graham, the legendary Rice baseball coach who led the Owls to seven College World Series appearances and a national championship in 2003, has passed away at the age of 88. Graham took over a struggling Rice program in 1992 and transformed it into a powerhouse, winning over 1,100 games in 27 seasons. His teams made 23 consecutive NCAA tournaments and he produced numerous MLB draft picks and national players of the year. Graham’s impact on Rice baseball and the sport as a whole will never be forgotten.
