T20 World Cup 2024: US grab victory over Pakistan in Super Over challenge

In the Super Over match against Pakistan, the US successfully defended their target of 19 runs, leveling the scores in the 20-over game. In the final over, the US and Pakistan made a decision to compete in the Super Over match. Pakistani captain Babar Azam led his team to a victory target of 160 runs in the first-ever T20 World Cup 2024. Despite losing three wickets, the US managed to score 26 runs in the eliminator over. Pakistani players Muhammad Rizwan, Usman Khan, and Fakhar Zaman returned to the pavilion with only 26 runs, leading to a strong start for the US. However, Babar Azam and Shadab Khan’s partnership helped Pakistan to a better performance. Shadab Khan’s departure led to a loss of momentum for Pakistan, and despite a strong performance from captain Babar Azam, Pakistan fell short of victory. In the end, Pakistan scored 159-7 in their innings, with Shadab Khan contributing significantly. The US captain, Monak Patel, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance and strategy, emphasizing the importance of perseverance in the game. The US team consisted of Steven Taylor, Monank Patel (captain, WK), Andres Gaus, Aaron Jones, Nitesh Kumar, Corey Anderson, Harmit Singh, Jasdeep Singh, Nostush Kenjige, Saurabh Netravalkar, and Ali Khan. On the other hand, the Pakistani team was led by captain Babar Azam, with Muhammad Rizwan, Usman Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Asif Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Nasim Shah, Muhammad Amir, and Haris Rauf as other key players.
