In Week 8 of the NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams beat the Minnesota Vikings with controversy surrounding a missed face mask penalty on Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold. The penalty occurred late in the game and ultimately sealed the victory for the Rams. Referees explained that they could not see the face mask being pulled, leading to widespread criticism. Despite the controversy, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell and Darnold did not use it as an excuse for the loss.
