Left-hander Blake Snell has decided to opt out of his contract with the San Francisco Giants to become a free agent for the second consecutive offseason. Despite signing a lucrative two-year deal in March, Snell has chosen to explore other opportunities. The two-time Cy Young Award winner had a solid season with the Giants, posting a 3.12 ERA in 20 starts and throwing a no-hitter. However, he was plagued by injuries throughout the year. Snell’s decision means that the Giants will not be able to make him a qualifying offer this offseason, which means they won’t receive draft-pick compensation if he signs with another team.
