Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao revealed that the Justice Michael D’ Cunha Commission of Inquiry recommended prosecution of former BJP Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and former minister B Sriramulu for alleged irregularities in the purchase of equipment and medicines during Covid-19. The report indicates that there was a “loot” in the procurement process, with about Rs 14 crore lost in the purchase of PPE kits. The government has decided to take further action based on the report, including forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a Cabinet sub-committee. The Health Minister emphasized that action will be taken against all responsible parties, following the principles of natural justice and fairness.
