A ruckus broke out in a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting on the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024, leading to the suspension of 10 Opposition MPs for the day. TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee described the situation as an undeclared emergency, while BJP MP Nishikant Dubey accused the MPs of creating chaos. The meeting was disrupted by disagreements between the Opposition and ruling party leaders over the bill. The suspended MPs, including Kalyan Banerjee and Asaduddin Owaisi, stormed out of the meeting, expressing their dissatisfaction. The report of the JPC will be submitted during the Parliament’s budget session.
