In the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Syed Altaf Bukhari, the chief of J&K Apni Party, is currently leading in Srinagar’s Channapora constituency. His party has promised various reforms, including the restoration of statehood, the release of imprisoned youth, and the quashing of the Public Safety Act. Bukhari, who is one of the richest candidates in the elections with total assets worth Rs 165 crore, is up against candidates from PDP, National Conference, and BJP in the Channapora seat. The Apni Party’s manifesto also includes promises to protect the culture and identity of J&K, ensure job quotas for locals in hydropower projects, and provide social security benefits to elderly, widows, and people with disabilities.
