The central government has reconstituted 41 consultative committees with members from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to provide insights into the functioning of various ministries. Some key changes include Rahul Gandhi moving out of the external affairs committee and being replaced by Manish Tiwari, while Shashi Tharoor has been appointed to the information and broadcasting committee. Other notable members include Sharad Pawar on the home affairs committee, P Chidambaram on finance, and Jairam Ramesh on forest environment and climate change. These committees, chaired by cabinet ministers, hold informal discussions and debates to analyze the government’s work.
