Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant apologized after facing backlash for his derogatory remark against Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC, calling her “imported maal.” Sawant stated that he never intended to insult women in his five decades of political service. Shaina NC condemned the remark, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde criticized Sawant’s comment, saying if Balasaheb Thackeray were alive, he would have condemned it. Sawant filed a complaint against Sawant, and the police will take action. Sawant clarified that he never mentioned Shaina’s name and accused the Mahayuti alliance of creating an uproar to tarnish his image before the Maharashtra elections.
