Months before the Haryana Assembly polls, the BJP surprised many by replacing Manohar Lal Khattar as chief minister with Nayab Singh Saini, a low-profile OBC leader. Saini’s quick actions and promises, such as providing employment opportunities and purchasing crops at minimum support price, helped shift public perception. The BJP’s campaign focused on alleged corruption during Congress rule, and Saini’s efforts paid off as the party won a third consecutive term. Saini, who rose through the ranks in the state BJP, has a history of serving in various positions before becoming the chief minister. His elevation mirrors that of Khattar, who was also a first-time MLA when he became chief minister in 2014.
