During the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, voters in Mumbai will receive up to 20% discounts at select shops, restaurants, and multiplexes by showing their inked finger. This initiative is aimed at encouraging voter turnout and was organized after discussions with various trade associations. The Election Commission also launched a voting awareness campaign called `Utsav Nivadnukicha, Abhiman Maharashtracha’. Celebrities and officials attended the event at the Gateway of India, where India Post released a special cancellation. Multiplex chains and restaurant associations have agreed to offer discounts to voters on November 20 and 21. Similar discount initiatives were seen during the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.
