Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will be contesting the assembly elections from Kopri-Pachpakhadi constituency in Thane city. The Shiv Sena released its first list of 45 candidates for the upcoming polls, including 37 sitting MLAs who defected alongside Shinde last year. The list also includes state cabinet members and candidates from diverse backgrounds, with a focus on the Maratha community. The party has also fielded three women candidates, including Manisha Waikar. Shiv Sena is the second major party to release its candidate list, following the BJP. The ruling Mahayuti alliance is yet to announce its seat-sharing deal.
