Kalyan Banerjee Suspended From JPC After He Smashes Glass Bottle During Argument With BJP’s Abhijit Ganguly

Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee injured himself after breaking a glass bottle during an argument with former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Ganguly. Banerjee received four stitches to his hand and was suspended for one day from the Joint Committee on Waqf Bill. The incident occurred during a meeting where Banerjee threw the broken bottle towards the chairman’s desk. The BJP lead NDA won the vote to suspend Banerjee, with 9 votes in favor and 8 against. Banerjee was seen being taken back to the meeting room by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and AAP leader Sanjay Singh. BJP leader Agnimitra Paul criticized Banerjee’s behavior as violent and unacceptable for a sitting MP.
