Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss issues related to the Union Territory, including the early restoration of statehood. This meeting comes after a recent terror attack in the region. Abdullah’s National Conference secured a significant victory in the recent assembly polls, and during his first cabinet meeting, a resolution was passed urging the central government to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. The chief minister is now empowered to advocate for this restoration with the prime minister and central government.
