At least 10 people were injured in a stampede at Bandra Terminus Station in Mumbai, leading to criticism from Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray towards Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Thackeray called Vaishnaw an “incapable minister” and criticized the BJP for appointing him as the in-charge for Maharashtra elections. Thackeray’s faction’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut also criticized Vaishnaw for prioritizing the bullet train project over addressing common people’s issues with railway infrastructure. The stampede occurred due to a rush of passengers trying to board a train during the festival season, prompting the Central Railway to temporarily restrict platform ticket sales at major stations to manage crowding.
