The upcoming Maharashtra elections will see direct clashes between the Sharad Pawar-headed NCP and his nephew-turned-rival Ajit Pawar on 36 seats. The most anticipated battle will be in Baramati, where Ajit Pawar will face off against his nephew Yugendra Pawar. The split in the NCP occurred in 2023 when Ajit Pawar left the party and joined the ruling Mahayuti alliance. The Election Commission awarded the party name and symbol to Ajit Pawar’s faction, causing a rift within the party. The clashes will primarily occur in Western Maharashtra and North Maharashtra, with both factions fielding candidates against each other.
