The CBI has registered a new FIR against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh for allegedly trying to frame BJP leaders in false cases. The investigation started from a pen drive given to the then Maharashtra Assembly speaker by Devendra Fadnavis, who was the opposition leader at the time. The FIR alleges that Deshmukh, along with others, conspired to file a false FIR to implicate BJP leaders. Deshmukh has denied the allegations, calling them baseless and accusing Fadnavis of engaging in dirty politics. The CBI has named Deshmukh, along with others, as accused in the case.
